2011 Season - Week 8
Trading Day
34 players were traded away on Sunday as owners got serious with underperforming NFL players. 12 owners made changes to their teams with Aaron, John & Marcus changing over half their team! Always meaningless but fun, instant analysis shows that George was the biggest winner as his new boys outscored his cuts by 13. His new TE Scott Chandler (Buffalo) caught two TD passes and none of his 4 cuts scored. Aaron was the second most improved (+12) with Cam Newton scoring 3 TDs in one game (3 more than his previous QB manage in the first 8 weeks – Peyton Manning). The third best were Cheryl & Ron at +6 while John was the only owner to log a losing differential (-3) as his new Coach was on a bye week and he could not overcome the shock of his old coaches (Steve Spagnuolo) Rams beating the Saints in the biggest upset of the season so far.
Most Popular/Unpopular teams
Indianapolis proved the most unpopular teams as 4 Colts were cut (Manning, Collie, Wayne & Caldwell,) though 2 other Colts were signed (Garcon & Carter). This time last year Buffalo were the only NFL team without a player on a BUMS roster, this week they were the most popular with 4 players being added (Lindell, Fitzpatrick, Chandler & Gailey). Cleveland QB Colt McCoy was signed so all NFL teams have BUMS representation. While seven teams (Atlanta, Buffalo, Chicago, Dallas, NY Giants, Philadelphia & San Diego) have 6 players now on BUMS rosters, Green Bay have 7 & New Orleans have 8 making the Saints our most popular NFL franchise.
Cuts by draft round
No matter which round you are selected in you can still be cut with John, George & Marcus cutting their first round picks, Jason Campbell, Reggie Bush & Larry Fitzgerald respectively. Five 2nd rounders got their marching orders and a massive five franchise players were cut, Peyton Manning, David Buehler, Steve Smith, Jeff Reed and Jamaal Charles, released by Aaron, George, Mark, Daz and Wayne.
BUMS on Seats
We are at HQ on Sunday to see NY Jets @ Buffalo and Green Bay @ San Diego. We will be at Johnnies at 6:30pm for both night games, on Monday to see the tough AFC North match-up as Baltimore travel to Pittsburgh and on Tuesday to see Chicago @ Philadelphia. We’ll probably be doing food so let us know if you’re coming.
